The Story of Silphium Design LLC
Silphium Design LLC is a website agency that is owned by a solopreneur who specializes in WordPress websites that are functional as well as accessible. Robert Coxe, the owner, has a background in science and is the former State Ecologist of Delaware and a former past President of the Pennsylvania Academy of Science. While still exploring and writing nearly 1,200 Wikipedia articles on Wikipedia, Robert is also designing websites for environmental businesses and non-profits.
The name of the company comes from the Yellow-cup plant (Silphium perfoliatum), which grows in the gardens of the location of the agency. This plant, which is a member of the Aster Family (Asteraceae), grows up to eight feet high and has large yellow flowers similar to a sunflower. These long-lived and large plants come back each year, are easily seen and felt, and represent the growth of your accessible website created by Silphium Design.

Seedling Stage
When your website is launched it is exposed to internet users. Most importantly, it is exposed to search engines such as Google and Bing. Just like a seedling, your website has to be nurtured through blog content, social media, advertising, and linking to be recognized and indexed. This is commonly called the “Google Sandbox.” This period can last from 3 months up to 18 months depending on the website niche.

Once your website is indexed and appears on the first page of search, users/visitors will start to explore your content and engage with you. As your users expand and diversify, your website may need to change with them. Silphium Design will be here for you when you need to make changes. We include one year of website maintenance (updates and any changes you may have) with each website designed, so we can be there for you as your site grows. This plan can be renewed at the end of the year.
